While I was in the middle of the novel Game of Thrones, I wondered how death did not touch Tyrion, even though it appeared in front of him many times. Even though he is not a man-at-arms, he survived. He faced the armed people in front of him with nothing but his sharp tongue. Maybe he has some magic or the people he encountered gave importance to rational thinking rather than actions fueled by a short temper. Maybe the author had decided to keep his character alive.
When I write the word 'author', Tyrion becomes timid and the author becomes powerful. It seems that Tyrion, like all the other characters, does as per the wish of the author. This shows that the author has the authority, not the characters. The author can change any event at any time as he wishes. If the author wants a character to fail, gain success, die or live, it will happen as he wishes. We, the readers accept all these, whether we like it or not.
If an author of a book has full authority over his characters' every part of life, then how much authority that God has on our lives? Things happen in our lives, not because we are good or bad, but for a reason, we may not be aware of. We may not know certain things by now and have a lot of questions and agonies, as things are hidden from our eyes and knowledge. But, our Creator knows them. Let's have hope in Him and do our things, as we read a book without knowing what is waiting for us in the next chapter or page or paragraph or line.
